Ken Nathan was born in Nottinghamshire and was educated in London. He first studied architecture and graphic design before concentrating on Fine Art. He moved to Wales in 1975, and over the years has shown in many venues in Britain and the US. The present thrust of the work began in 1985 with a move towards a very expressive style. His overriding concern with the form and predicament of humanity has developed into a profound fascination with human dynamics. This expressed itself in the mid 90s when he began working directly with dancers. More recently there has been a growing interest in the more abstract qualities of dynamics and the possibilities of cross discipline collaboration. This interest in exploring the edges that define painting has, in turn, led to experiment with the media. To this end Ken started inserting found objects into the paint. Slowly this technique has developed into the making of pieces exclusively from trash. The nature of the objects’ shapes has resulted in increasingly 3 dimensional artworks. Collaboration with colleagues in other fields has led to the possibility of active and reactive artwork. |
