The proceeds of the auction will go to the homeless charity St Mungo’s.

St Mungo’s helps people who are currently sleeping rough on London’s streets, and works with people who have been homeless and are now in shelter. We provide homes for people who are so vulnerable that without us they are at real risk of homelessness. For the past 30 years and more we have constantly sought to improve, and find innovative new ways to help.

We are perhaps best known for our hostels for London’s rough sleepers. But they are just part of our broad-ranging services, in fact they are just 10 of over 60 housing projects we run, and we do much more than simply provide shelter!

  • Each year 2000 homeless people get involved in our activity, training and employment programs; London’s directly delivered program giving homeless people a chance to improve their lives.

  • Each night over 1200 people sleep in safety under a St Mungo’s roof. With over 200 in our specialist care homes or specialist hostels (which provide high levels of care, for the elderly or those with high health needs, over 550 in supported housing where more independent housing is combined with support from our staff, and more than 400 people in short stay hostels.

  • Every day we help prevent at least 700 people becoming homeless; by providing long term care for the very vulnerable, and working closely with high risks groups such as ex-prisoners, or formerly homeless people settling into their own homes.

  • Every day our 30 strong team of specialist support workers meet a variety of needs amongst our residents from mental health problems to drug abuse.

  • Each night our 4 Street Outreach teams give advice and support to people sleeping rough and finding them appropriate accommodation.

  • Our 2 day centres provide community support for people currently sleeping rough, or those now living independently.

  • Each year we help rebuild lives. With our help over 200 formerly homeless people found full time work last year, and 500 moved into suitable new homes.

We are grateful to Ken Nathan for generously offering to donate the proceeds of Celebrity Trash to a StMungo’s project; Bridge Resource Centre.

Bridge Resource Centre is a training centre specifically for homeless people. The Centre helps around 250 people a year, providing services to engage, motivate and support individuals in pursuit of their career goals. Facilities include a careers library, modern computer facilities including design, music and internet software and dedicated training rooms.

Clients study accredited courses including information technology, the Internet, literacy and numeracy. Facilities are available to research training and employment opportunities, gain access to vocational courses such as catering or garden design; and 3-6 months work placements. Trained staff advise clients on opportunities available and draw up action plans for clients who want to improve their job hunting techniques. All the services at Bridge are free to homeless people, not only existing St Mungo’s clients.
